Full Time Classroom Teachers:
Amanda opened Peace Rose Montessori in August 2011. She is originally from Seattle and attended Belmont University, where she received her Montessori certification from AMS. She lives with her husband Brad, three children, one dog, and two cats in the school neighborhood. Her daughter is enrolled in the PRM Upper Elementary Program.
Julie is a native to the Wilmington area. She attended NCSU and returned to Wilmington with her husband David after the birth of their first child. Julie is mother to three kids, two of whom are enrolled in PRM's Lower and Upper Elementary programs. Julie has served families in many different ways, as court advocate and social worker, through volunteer work, as a doula, and now as a Co-Director at PRM.
Originally from Durham, Elena has been in Wilmington (and with Peace Rose) since 2012. She has a BFA in photography from MICA and worked in Museum Education before joining Peace Rose. She received her initial Montessori certification from NAMC and is currently enrolled in a MATCE Early Childhood program. She has also written a number of cookbooks and works as a food photographer and recipe developer. Her son is enrolled in the PRM Lower Primary class.
Sue is an AMS certified Primary Montessori teacher and has been working with children ranging in age from infant through 12 years old for the past 16 years. She has worked as a Lead Primary Montessori teacher, an aftercare director in a Montessori school and a caregiver for infant and toddler aged children as well. Her daughter is enrolled in the PRM Lower Elementary class.
Kendra is a NAMC certified Montessori toddler teacher and NC Early Childhood Credential Certified Educator. She has experience working with children ranging from their first breaths of infancy through 12 years old. She has one daughter enrolled in the PRM Lower Primary class and an infant daughter who frequently joins us in the classroom.
Robin has been with Peace Rose since 2015 in many capacities- aftercare teacher, art teacher, and now Primary co-teacher. She received her Montessori primary certification from NAMC in 2017. She is the mom of two busy boys and spends her time painting, creating, singing, and enjoying the natural wonders of our beautiful town.
Jared earned his undergraduate degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado and returned to his native Pittsburgh for graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh. He has taught in public and charter schools in Raleigh, Edenton, and Wilmington. He received his Montessori Upper Elementary training from NAMC 2017. He and his wife have been in Wilmington since 2016.
Andrea graduated from UNCW in the Spring of 2018 with a BA in Elementary Education and minors in Mathematics, Spanish, and English as a Second Language. She is spending the summer in San Diego pursuing her Montessori Lower Elementary training through AMS. First joining the Peace Rose team in 2016 as an Aftercare teacher she is eager to return and pursue her passion in the Elementary classroom.
Raised by the Jersey shore, Kristina was more than happy to join the Wilmington community in the summer of 2017 with her husband and cat. Fulfilled the North Carolina Education Credentials and holds an Associates Degree from GCC. Along with playing the ukulele, Kristina loves the outdoors, swimming, running and yoga.
Aftercare & Specials Teachers
Sarah moved to Wilmington in 2006 and graduated from UNCW in 2011 with a BA in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education. Sarah is passionate about the environment and all things natural. She lives in the school neighborhood with her partner Austin, three year old daughter and two cats.
Lauren and her family moved here from Brooklyn, NY and joined the PRM community when their daughter was three. She currently makes and sells natural, small-batch, handmade products ranging from soap, infused honeys and vinegars to organic, eco-dyed clothing and home wares under the name Home Body Field Goods. Her husband Tim designs the graphics for PRM and their daughter is enrolled in our Lower Elementary program.
Kathryn studied education at UNCW and herbalism at the Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism. She loves working with people and helping them discover the joys of being outside and working with the amazing power of plants. She has been teaching and facilitating herbal and outdoor awareness classes for the last 10 years, and teaches with Nature Connect NC in addition to her work at PRM. Her daughter is enrolled in the PRM Primary classroom.
Emily McNamara earned her JD from Catholic University of America, her BA in psychology from Wake Forest University, and is a mother of four children. Prior to practicing family and criminal law, she established and taught at an intimate private school and spent many years tutoring math, science and test preparation. Her son is enrolled in the PRM Primary classroom.
Memi is a native of Kannapolis, NC and has lived here on the coast for five years. She attended UNCC and received her BS in dance. She has always had a passion for teaching, helping and encouraging others. She has worked as a teacher's assistant in Rowan Co. schools, a dance instructor, a yoga instructor, and as a Carolina Panther's Top Cat Cheerleader. Her daughter is enrolled in the Lower Elementary program at PRM.
Nick is a former professional athlete who spent his entire 8-year NFL career with the Carolina Panthers. Nick is an IYCA certified Youth Fitness Specialist and the owner and head coach of 37 POWER, an athletic training program that assists young athletes in enhancing their athletic abilities. His daughter is enrolled in the Lower Elementary program at PRM.
Kendra studied at Wingate University as a Music Performance major focusing on Operatic productions and children’s music education. She spent 9 years as a member of the Girls Choir of Wilmington and 3 years as a section leader teaching ages 7-12. She also conducted a music camp at the Tutuzela Children’s Orphanage in Alexandria, South Africa in 2010.
Laurel graduated from UNCW in 2001 with a BA in Studio Art and is a professional potter by trade but is trained to work in many mediums. Her husband is the local children's musician Mr. Mark and together they have been pursuing their artistic and creative lives for more than ten years. Her daughter is enrolled in our Upper Elementary program.
Rachael Goolsby earned her BFA in Dance + Choreography from VCU in 2002. She has been teaching yoga since 1999. n Wilmington she dances and serves on the board of Alban Elved, as well as works with The Dance Cooperative. As a yoga instructor she leads retreats, teacher trainings, workshops and weekly classes. She enjoys her beach life with her husband and two daughters, who are enrolled in the PRM Upper Elementary classroom.
