Amanda Cordova / Co-Director, Elementary Teacher
Amanda opened Peace Rose Montessori in August 2011. She is originally from Seattle and attended Belmont University, where she received her Montessori certification from AMS. She lives with her husband Brad, four children, one dog, and two cats in the school neighborhood. Her daughter was in the first graduating class of Peace Rose students to head to middle school!
Julie Small / Co-Director, School Administrator
Julie is a native to the Wilmington area. She attended NCSU and returned to Wilmington with her husband David after the birth of their first child. Julie is mother to three kids, two of whom are enrolled in PRM's Lower and Upper Elementary programs. Julie has served families in many different ways, as court advocate and social worker, through volunteer work, as a doula, and now as a Co-Director at PRM.
Elena Rosemond-Hoerr / Co-Director, Primary & Kindergarten Teacher
Originally from Durham, Elena has been in Wilmington (and with Peace Rose) since 2012. She has a BFA in photography from MICA and worked in Museum Education before joining Peace Rose. She has her MATCE Early Childhood credential. In addition to teaching she works a recipe developer and food photographer, and recently had her fourth cookbook published. She lives in the school neighborhood with her husband, son, and two dogs. Her son is enrolled in the Primary class.
Sarah VannCamp / Primary Teacher
Sarah moved to Wilmington in 2006 and graduated from UNCW in 2011 with a BA in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education. Sarah is passionate about the environment and all things natural. She lives in the school neighborhood with her partner Austin, four year old daughter and two cats. Her daughter is enrolled in the Primary class.
Tanasha McNeil / Primary Teacher
Tanasha was born and raised in Wilmington NC. She graduated with an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Cape Fear Community College and has spent the past 2 1/2 years working in childcare with children ages 6weeks-6years.
Kendra Bentley / Toddler & Pre-Primary, Elementary Music Teacher
Kendra is a NAMC certified Montessori toddler teacher and NC Early Childhood Credential Certified Educator. She has experience working with children ranging from their first breaths of infancy through 12 years old. Her daughters are enrolled in the Toddler and Primary programs.
Robin Buzzeo / Toddler & Pre-Primary Teacher
Robin has been with Peace Rose since 2015 in many capacities- aftercare teacher, art teacher, and now Primary co-teacher. She received her Montessori primary certification from NAMC in 2017. She is the mom of two busy boys and a baby girl and spends her time painting, creating, singing, and enjoying the natural wonders of our beautiful town.
Blake Carter / Toddler & Pre-Primary, Aftercare Teacher
Blake lives in Wilmington with her husband Thomas and dog Hudson. She studied theatre with a focus in children’s theatre and theatre for young audiences. She has worked with children in many different environments including traditional schools, cooperative schools, enrichment programs, and in home care. She is a lover of nature, literature, music and all creatures. She is a collector of moments and believes even the smallest moments can be filled with important life lessons.
Danielle Mulcahy / Toddler & Pre-Primary, Aftercare Teacher
Originally from Hickory, NC, Danielle has been in Wilmington for 19 years. She lives with her son, her dog, and her cat and loves being outside and on the water. Her son is enrolled in the Upper Elementary program.
Constance Brooks / Upper Elementary Teacher
Constance graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Early Childhood Development (ZS). She has experience teaching in both public, and private schools in the Metro-Detroit area. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Constance recently moved to Wilmington, NC in June 2019 with her husband, Dana.
Sue Hottel / Lower Elementary Teacher
Sue is an AMS certified Primary Montessori teacher and has been working with children ranging in age from infant through 12 years old for the past 16 years. She has worked as a Lead Primary Montessori teacher, an aftercare director in a Montessori school and a caregiver for infant and toddler aged children as well. Her daughter is enrolled in the PRM Lower Elementary class.
Michelle Lawson / Elementary Assistant
Michelle grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati and her Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina. She earned her Montessori Certification and has been teaching Montessori for 14 years. She opened Sweet Peas Montessori School House in Wilmington in 2010. Michelle has experience working with children as a certified doula, nanny, tutor, and dance instructor. In addition to being a youth advocate, she is passionate about theatre, eco-conscious living, peaceful living and children's nutrition. Her son is enrolled in the Upper Elementary program.
Pam Hersey / Elementary Assistant, Substitute Teacher
After retiring from New Hanover County schools where she taught 7th and 8th grade, she decided she needed a little slower pace. Peace Rose is not at all slower but it is more relaxing. Her daughter, Ms. Julie and her grandchildren, Charlotte, Dawson and Owen kept talking about Peace Rose, in invited her to attend many functions, and before you know it, I was hooked. I’m happy to be a part of the team.
Emily Kight / Aftercare Teacher
Emily holds a B.S. in Psychology and has worked with children in a variety of settings from horseback riding lessons to nannying, summer camps, and now parenting and homeschooling her own two children. She is thrilled to be at Peace Rose as it is her first experience in a Montessori environment.
Emily McNamara / Substitute Teacher
Emily McNamara earned her JD from Catholic University of America, her BA in psychology from Wake Forest University, and is a mother of four children. Prior to practicing family and criminal law, she established and taught at an intimate private school and spent many years tutoring math, science and test preparation. Her son is enrolled in the PRM Primary classroom.
Rachael Dowdy / Administrative Assistant
Rachael is a South Eastern NC native, growing up in a rural area where her childhood was filled with farm and coastal living. She and her husband now make Wilmington their home with their two young sons. Together, they began exploring Montessori and Waldorf education when their eldest son was a young baby and were drawn to many of the natural learning processes embedded in the Montessori method. Her eldest son is enrolled in the Primary classroom.
Kathryn Waple / Substitute Teacher
Kathryn studied education at UNCW and herbalism at the Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism. She loves working with people and helping them discover the joys of being outside and working with the amazing power of plants. She has been teaching and facilitating herbal and outdoor awareness classes for the last 10 years, and teaches with Nature Connect NC in addition to her work at PRM. Her daughter is enrolled in the PRM Primary classroom.
Rachael Goolsby / Elementary Yoga Teacher
Rachael Goolsby earned her BFA in Dance + Choreography from VCU in 2002. She has been teaching yoga since 1999. n Wilmington she dances and serves on the board of Alban Elved, as well as works with The Dance Cooperative. As a yoga instructor she leads retreats, teacher trainings, workshops and weekly classes. She enjoys her beach life with her husband and two daughters, who are enrolled in the PRM Upper Elementary classroom.
Rachael Kinsey / Elementary Art Teacher
Mary Miller-Jordan / Elementary Science Teacher
Mary graduated from UNCW with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Mary founded a non-profit Mustang Sanctuary where she offers animal assisted wellness programs for humans with her Mustang partners. Mary and her husband Mike have a farm 30 minutes from Wilmington, NC where they are excited to host PRM for quarterly farm visits. Goat Yoga, milking goats, gardening and meditating with the Mustang sanctuary herd are but a few of the offers the students will participate in on the farm. On Thursday's Mary will be offering a Science Class for PRM elementary students. Zarina Jordan is Mary's daughter and attends PRM.
